Dallas Cowboys star rookie running back, Ezekiel Elliott, was involved in a car accident Wednesday morning. The car accident would be described as minor, but one may wonder what kind of role this could play when the stakes are at their highest this weekend. The Dallas Cowboys are set to square off against the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round of the playoffs. Dallas has had an incredible season behind Elliott’s running game leading them to the number one overall seed in the NFC. The Cowboy’s offense relies heavily on Ezekiel Elliott, running him 322 times this year for a league leading 1,631 rushing yards. Needless to say the Cowboys organization was uneasy after hearing news of the accident. Their playoff hopes rest on the success of its offense, which fittingly runs through Elliott. When reporters asked about the accident, Elliott explained:
“It was just a small fender bender. I am fine. I was on my way to practice when noticed a sign for Wendy’s. Now, everyone who knows me knows that I normally am very picky when it comes to what I put in my body. I try to eat as clean as possible, but if there is one thing that gets to me it’s a Wendy’s Frosty. I couldn’t resist. I pulled in to the drive-thru and the employee handed me the Frosty and I was on my way. I tried to drink it through the straw that the Wendy’s employee put in for me, but everybody knows you can’t drink a Frosty with a straw! I fumbled around in the bag for a spoon and popped the lid off. When I went to get a spoonful of the deliciousness a little bit fell on to me. If I had been wearing a regular t-shirt, I would have been okay, but I was wearing one of my classic Ezekiel Elliott crop-top work out shirts and the Frosty goodness hit my lower abs. I flinched from the cold and did not react to the red light quick enough and I bumped the car in front of me. The man that I hit could not be more understanding. We took a picture, I signed an autograph for him, and we settled the accident. No one was hurt. This is not a distraction. I am ready to go Sunday.”
It is safe to say that the Dallas Cowboys had dodged a bullet Wednesday morning. Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones is taking no more chances. He reportedly is sending his personal horse drawn carriage to pick up the running back and escort him to practice. “He is such an asset to the team, we don’t know what we would do without him. I even offered to wrap him up in bubble wrap every day,” Jones said. Cowboys’ fans can breathe a sigh of relief as it appears that this minor car accident does not likely seem to pose a threat to the Cowboys in their matchup this weekend against the red hot Green Bay Packers. Let’s just be glad he didn’t take a boat ride with Justin Bieber.
